Classical Music Time (CMT) founder Efran Zhao has directed over 25 performances to enrich lives while inspiring and supporting future musicians in his community.
Efran's musical journey as a violinist began at the age of five under the guidance of Mrs. Medea Guldedava. Since 1st grade, he has been an active participant in youth orchestras, frequently performing as concertmaster. His dedication and talent culminated in leading the 2023 Honor String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
Efran has consistently placed first in TMEA All-Region auditions every year since middle school. In high school, he has been selected for TMEA All-State for four consecutive years, placing in Symphony Orchestra's 1st violin section each time - a remarkable achievement that showcases his artistry and perseverance.
As a soloist, Efran's violin performances have been described as "exquisite" by his audience. At the age of 13, he became the youngest-ever grand prize winner of the AFA (American Festival for the Arts) Concerto Competition. He went on to win first place and the Best Romantic Performance Award in the Open Sonority International Instrumental Competition, first place in the Marielle Ogletree Young Artist Concerto Competition, and first place string winner in HYS (Houston Youth Symphony) Concerto Competition.
A compassionate musician, Efran has performed for seniors, patients, and his local community since a very young age. Driven by his passion for music, he has served as both president and officer of Dawson High School’s National Music Honor Society and continues to inspire young musicians through his leadership and dedication.
